What accelerates skin aging

How fast does skin change

There are two main culprits that accelerate the aging process of our skin: sun exposure and advanced glycation end products (AGEs) . AGEs form when protein or fat combine with sugar.
Ultraviolet radiation, which speeds the natural aging process, is the primary cause of early wrinkling. Exposure to UV light breaks down your skin's connective tissue collagen and elastin fibers, which lie in the deeper layer of skin (dermis).
The biggest changes typically occur when people are in their 40s and 50s, but they can begin as early as the mid-30s and continue into old age. Even when your muscles are in top working order, they contribute to facial aging with repetitive motions that etch lines in your skin.
Things that damage collagen
  • Eating too much sugar and refined carbs. Sugar interferes with collagen's ability to repair itself. Minimize your consumption of added sugar and refined carbs ( 7 ).
  • Getting too much sunshine. Ultraviolet radiation can reduce collagen production. ...
  • Smoking. Smoking reduces collagen production.
Keep an eye on your sugar and carbohydrate consumption. Both can cause inflammation and damage your skin's collagen. Instead, prioritize mineral-rich fruits and vegetables, as well as protein-rich animal and plant foods.
During menopause, lower levels of estrogen have a big impact on your skin. Less estrogen makes you prone to thinning, sagging, and wrinkling. Fortunately, you can relieve some of the skin-related effects of aging by taking care of your specific skin care needs.
We can be on the search for younger skin for all of our lives. However isn't it better to accept and ageing skin gracefully? It doesn't mean not to take care of it. You should but its just as important to accept those fine lines and wrinkles that are going to happen sooner or later. Not trying to compete with your 18 self and preventing any serious skin issues by simply taking care of it.
