Youth Capsule — instrumental efficacy findings
Youth Capsule was evaluated in a 28-day instrumental efficacy study measuring skin hydration, melanin index, elasticity, wrinkle depth and skin roughness.
- 39.2% increase in measured skin hydration. Corneometer® CM 825 readings increased from 42.3 to 58.9 hydration units.
- 14.3% reduction in measured melanin index. Mexameter® MX18 readings decreased from 214.6 to 183.9.
- 18.0% improvement in overall elasticity (R2). Cutometer® readings increased from 0.61 to 0.72.
- 19.1% improvement in net elasticity (R5). Cutometer® readings increased from 0.47 to 0.56.
- 20.4% reduction in average wrinkle depth. PRIMOS® 3D measurements decreased from 148.5 to 118.2 micrometres.
- 20.4% reduction in measured skin roughness. PRIMOS® 3D roughness measurements (Ra) decreased from 0.162 to 0.129.
Study details: single-centre, open-label instrumental efficacy study involving 30 adults aged 25–55 with normal to sensitive skin. Youth Capsule was applied to the face twice daily for 28 days. Figures are reported group-average changes at day 28 compared with baseline. Measurements were scheduled at baseline, day 14 and day 28 under controlled temperature and humidity conditions. The report states p < 0.05 for the reported endpoints, using paired Student’s t-tests.

Understanding the measurements
Hydration readings assess moisture in the outer skin layer. Melanin index is an instrumental measure of pigmentation; the reported percentage describes the change in that index. Elasticity measurements describe how skin responds to deformation, while 3D imaging measures wrinkle depth and surface roughness.
